REASONS FOR THE DIVERSITY IN 1950’S ENGLAND

Moving back a few decades, the UK’s scenario was not like that as of today. However, it was obviously in a totally different condition back then. So, the country had just faced the tremendous loss of World War 2, which ended in 1948 two years before. The huge defeat of the Second World War had a drastic socio-economic impact on the nation.

Hence, another setback was the liquidation of East India Company which split up a single subcontinent into two different countries. So, it favored these nations to be independent on their own in the form of India and Pakistan. Therefore, it ruined their British rule and forced them to leave the country and return to the United Kingdom. Thus, it ended the diversity in 1950s England and limited its rein just to the UK. The era of colonialism lasted for 89 years from 1858 to 19417. It soon finished with the announcement of the independence of the subcontinent on the night of 13th August 1947 on the all-India radio and BBC radio transmission broadcasts. It was all the efforts of Mr. Jinnah and Gandhi to liberate their countries from the slavery of British domination.

Here are some core reasons for the diversity of the British era:

Post War Immigration

The idea of immigration is not new like today. But it began with the era of post-World War 2. It was the time when the subcontinent was released from British slavery. But the people had nothing to do and eat in the country due to a new setup. Though India was a stable nation back then, people migrated from there to the UK and other places of the world.

So, their reason for migration was to find work opportunities and improve their financial condition to get prosperity. That is why immigrants of that time are more prosperous than people of today who are new migrants.

The shift from Rural to Urban

It was an older trend of that era to make a shift from rural to urban culture. However, it was tough for Indians to mix in the modern tradition. However, they made an effort to change their personality and appearance to mix in the era of innovation.

Bottom Line

All in all, the above-mentioned are valid reasons for the historical context of 1950s England. However, it had a great background that created a setting and reputation of this country in the overall surroundings. It was a powerful nation that had a strong influence on the neighboring countries of the world.

The ruling power of the UK was extremely vast and expanded its borders with a huge region. Therefore, it had a similar position with Russia to have a large state of territory. Russia was a part of the Soviet Union back then and had a solid power in its area of jurisdiction. But these countries saw the worst defeat and downfall to lose all their influence. Their reign was collapsed terribly and limited to a few nations that were in their hold and control.
