About The Author
My name is Sangita Dosanjh, and I was born in 1963 in Derby, England. Since 2012, my father has lived with me and my partner, providing the inspiration for my writing journey.
Despite having a hard-earned degree in social sciences, I never saw myself as particularly motivated or proficient in academia. I’m not an avid reader, which partly explains the time it took to complete my manuscript. Despite this, I have developed my own writing style over the years, culminating in my debut book, The Extraordinary Story of an Ordinary Man.
My introduction to writing was unintentional. I never planned to write a book, but as I took notes on my father’s memoirs, the idea of transforming them into a book gradually took shape. My father, one of the first South Asian immigrants to arrive in 1950s England, has a story that must be told. I realized I was documenting the last voices of a generation of immigrants from India and Pakistan who significantly changed the course of life for future generations.
Since completing my book, I have continued to seek out and write other fascinating immigration stories, which I hope to publish soon.
